Now booking for class of 2020

Class of 2020 it is your turn to shine.

Senior year is a major milestone in your life that should be celebrated and documented.  Prior to this you may have had experience with professional portraits for infant milestones sessions and hopefully some family portraits.  Your senior portraits are the first portraits capturing you as you enter the next chapter of your life.  This portrait session should capture who you have become as you transition from child into adult.

There are so many photographers to choose from and I want to help make sure that you get an experience tailored to you and images that you will treasure for years to come.  So how do you start the process of selecting the right senior photographer for you?  There are photographers to fit any style and budget but you need to know what is important to you.  The first steps is to talk with your family and determine your budget.

Once you have a budget you should agree upon how you plan to display your finished images.  Does your house have open wall spaces for large framed portraits or collages?  Do you prefer an heirloom quality album that you can easily flip through for years to come?  Maybe you prefer a lot of smaller framed prints to place around the house or give as gifts to relatives?  I highly encourage you to select printed products from your session.  Too many CD’s and Flash Drives sit in drawers or get lost without ever being used for prints - because “you will get around to it someday”.

Now that you know your budget and the products you are looking for you can determine what you want your high school senior portrait experience to be.  Are you looking for an epic destination shoot in an exotic location?  A series of sessions to capture all 4 seasons of your senior year?  A classic portrait in an indoor studio?  A outdoor shoot that captures your own personal style?

The next step is gathering data - do a google search for “high school senior photographers” in your location and talk to friends who have had their portraits, or older sibling’s portraits, taken.  Review the photographer’s website and social media accounts to get a better understanding of the types of images they will create and how closely their images match what you are looking for.

Call the photographers that match your desired style.  This allows you a chance to find out of the photographer is someone you feel comfortable with, particularly if you feel shy or nervous about being in front of the camera.  Establishing a connection with your photographer should happen well before you step in front of their camera.
